Many of the most intelligent and best
citizens of Crawford county have made
future provision for their families by taking
out policies in the Union Central Life
Insurance Co. W. P. Blasingame, agent.

music of various kinds. ..
Col. Blasingame had hardly ventured
upon the street after recovering from the
fever before he was forced to write up
several applications for life insurance
policies in the Union Central. It must be

months.
Quite :i Siam.
In Blalock’s storo at Culloden the sbelv
ing on one side of the bouse fell forward
with a terrible crash, one day recenly. On
the shelves were crockery and other goods
which were mined. Fortunately none of
the clerks were behind the counter at the
time of the accident, for they would have
been killed.
This is the only instance of the kind on
record where the life of a salesman was
saved by a failure on the part of a mer
chant to advertise his goods.
Tackey Party.
Upon invitation of Mrs. Aaron and
Walter Clark and Misses Josie and Alice
Williams (the committee on invitation) the
Editor and wile took conveyance Wednes
day night, hound for the “tackey party’’
at the residence of Judge J. J. Clark.
The company was large, several com
munities being represented. The costumes
were very amusing, and it was hard to tell
whoof the gentlemen would take the cake,
but it was given up without dispute that
Mrs. Jennie Clark displayed the most skill
in representing “the gal you heerd of.”
The old men present, for self protection.
acted as critics or judges.
Mr. John Jenkins had on his Sunday
suit of last winter, and a young man by
the name of Wing wearing his summer hat
and coat, personated the “tacky feller” so
well that it was declared a draw between
them. Several young men were so rigged
out as not to represent the cracker or any
thing else, and were ruled out.
The cake w.„ mt hr
its appearonce and ta'te that no tackey
had the charge of making it.
The Clark family and Miss Williams
furnished some delightful music, and the
evening was pleasantly spent by all. No
where in the county can an evening be
spent more pleasantly than with the hos¬
pitable and refined people about Clark’s
mill.
