Mr Editor—I write this not knowing
that it will he printed. Still 1 believe that
you are not so full of pridjudice lhat you
will exclude facts lhat the public will be
benefitted iu knowing. I think you will
give us people who want the depot town‘a
common market for the people of the coun
tv a chance to say'a few words at least, -
Crawford county must have bade center
and where shall that trade tonterjhe ? The
answer to that question is. it should be the
best, place. The best place is tbs one
which is the most accesaable to the people
aud to the great artery of commerce—the
r abroad. If we ever have a big town iu
Crawford county the trade of that pi
must come for the most part from the
western parr of the county. This roust be
the case because there is no town in many
miles on the west. I believe the Journal
stated this some months ago. It takes
railroads to devplep a country, and if some
of the eopple are going to try and do this
away from the railroad they will work
against great odds. And besides, there
will be many who will not agree. With
them, and are enterprising enough‘to see
t hat the railroad is (lie place to locale at,
becauso in the course of time the business
roust come here. The history of all thriv¬
ing towns proves this, where the circum¬
stances are similar. The farmers of this
county will bo sure to buy their supplies
in the county, in the course of time, fer
the trade of thi* section is immense and
the fanners arc now studying economy,
and talking economy, and practicing ccon.
omy. Convenience and economy together
with accommodation constitutes the poiuts
which have proven to be the elements
which bring success in commerce. If yob
admit lhat this is true then you virtually
admit that fhe new town at the depot |is
the most eligible local for the common
market of the people of this section -
I head this article plain frets becahse 1
