of last week and wc were agreeably
surprised to note the improvements
of the town. Everything seems to
be on the move there. Our predic
tion is Danville will be a nice little
city some day.
You know Hugh Parker has just
traded horses, and now has a pretty
speedy traveler—so he says—and he
was out driving one morning not long
since—so he tells—and when within
about a half mile of a certain pond
he spied a duck—big greer.-head wild
duel:, not a ‘-puddle” duck—making
for the pond with all his might and
main, and the idea seized Hugh and
he decided to race the duck to the
pond, so Hugh tapped the horse with
ins whip and struck out, but handn’t
gone scarcely any distance before the
duck was overtaken and outrun and
Hugh says he looked around only to
find that the duck had become dis
gusted with its speed and had gone
back. This horse must be a half
brother to electricity, or Hugh should
be made president of the Irwinton
Annanias Club with his dues paid up
to 1910.
