" THE Y. M. C. A, AT MOREHOUSE By G. J. Van Buren, ’23. O F the various 'Student organizations functioning at Mareho,u§e f the -Young Men’s Christian Association ds one which holds a place unchallenged and unexcelled. In avw.ay which is.quiet and un assuming, b.ut oat the rsam>e time, essentially vital, the “Y>” .makes a definite<contribution to the life of every student.. There may^be a tendency to lose sight of this fact in face of such marvelous.achieve ments. rh "athletics and debating, but nevertheless it is. clearly true. More and ntore the present day program for college-trained leadership sis demanding -leadership that is safe, sound and ..well groundediin Christian principles. In order to meet these demands the students must be-subjected to a strong -.Christian environment during.their school.days, so that their moral training may keep pace with tlJeanphysioal- and; intellectual growth. Too. often; it-.is. Univers ally true that much of the failure experienced by people .of.xollegiate standing simply exposes the fact that, during their college career, their spiritual and religious growth and development stood still, while their physical and intellectual -training ^reached its highest point. Our Y. M. C. A. is doing its duty. At the very beginning of the school year, almost before the old students had a chance to greet.each other or get acquainted with th'eir new brothers, the Young Men’s Christian Association pitched its “Week of Prayer” Campaign, dur ing which time many souls were brought to Christ. The association sends out more than one hundred'Sunday school teachers, who are do ing very effective.work affiong the various churches throughout the city. Free moving'pictures are. shown weekly.
