The Spring Musical at Perry High School will be
held at 7 p.m. on Mav 7 and 8, and at 2 p.m. on May
9
The 1999 production is “Once Upon a Mattress”,
a musical corned)’ based on Hans Christian
Anderson’s story, “The Princess and the Pea.”

In the meantime, Perry City Council
members meeting on May 4 delayed a vote
on the proposal after Council members
Billy Jerles and Charles Lewis both stated
that they had never had an opportunity to
see the proposal they were to vote on.
Jerles said, “Every copy I've seen has
draft written on it. I want to see the final
version."

Adam Richard Andel,
Sr. 81. of 2366 U.S. 41
South, Perry, died April 28,
1999 at the Summerhill
Nursing Home.
Funeral services were
held on Sat., May 1 at 11
a.m. at First Baptist
Church of Perry with the
Rev. Mark Ward and the
Rev. Horace Woodruff offi
ciating. Burial was in Perry
Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Andel was a native of
Wauchula, Fla., and had
lived in Perry since 1931.
He was a retired farmer
and a member of First
Baptist Church of Perry
and the Barnabas Sunday
School Class.
Survivors include his
wife, Annie Churchwell
Andel, his son, Richard
Andel, and his daughter,
Carol A. Swords, all of
Perry; his sisters, Elsie
Merritt of Dunnellon, Fla.,
and Margaret Wood of
Perry, his brother, Henry
Andel of Perry, three
grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
The family suggests
memorials to the
Alzheimer’s Association,
277 Martin Luther King,
Jr. Blvd., Macon, Ga.

Mae Hopper. 89, of
Norfolk, Va., died on April
25, 1999 in Norfolk.
Services were held at
Christ’s Sanctified Holy
Church on May 1, with the
Rev. Ben Jernigan, the
Rev. Leon Stewart and the
Rev. Thomas Mustin offici
ating. Burial was in the
Christ’s Sanctified Holy
Church Cemeteiy.
Miss Hopper, a native of
Mississippi, had lived in
Norfolk for 50 years, but
had a second home
Perry. She was a
maker and a member of
Christ’s Sanctified Holy
Church.
Survivors include her
sisters, Roxie Crain of
Jackson, Miss., and Faye
Samuels of Norfolk, Va.,
her brother, William
Hopper of Norfolk, and her
brother-in-law, Raymond
Samuels of Norfolk.
Memorials may be made

Jones was a former resi
dent of Cordele. He had
lived in Perry since 1995.
He was a route salesman
for Frito Lay for 11 years,
and was a member of
Pinecrest Baptist Church in
Cordele. He attended
Kathleen Baptist Church.
He is survived by his
wife, Rita Thornton Jones
of Perry; two sons. Edward
Jones Jr. of Macon, and
Paul Jones of Cherry Point
Marine Base in Havelock.
N.C.; two daughters, Nicole
Jones and Krystal Jones,
both of Perry; two sisters,
Sandra Belote and Debbie
Turner, both of Macon; his
mother, Velma Pritchett
Ray of Macon; and one
grandchild.

pro for 60 years. He was a
lifelong member of the
Professional Golf
Association and a member
of the Perry Country Club.
Survivors include his
wife, Ora Fuller Quimby of
Perry; a daughter, C.
Quimby Santaniello of
Ocala, Fla., two brothers,
Charles Quimby of
Hawkinsville and Ray
Quimby of Meridian, Miss.,
a sister, Frances Havens of
Semmes, Ala., and two
great-grandchildren.
