Visitin’ Venezuela. • •• Congratulations to Todd and Lisa Schlag Barker of Willow Ridge Personal Care Home on Macon Road upon the near completion of a second 15-room building for residents. The couple married in '93 after courting since tenth grade at Perry High School, began Willow Ridge almost five years ago and now have a two-year old son, Andrew. Meanwhile Lisa works as a nurse at Houston Medical Center. They reside in North Hamptons. Dorothy Barker joined the staff of her son’s care home about four years ago and plans are now under way to hire an activities director. • •• Congratulations to Sean Moistner and Heather Meyer upon their recent engagement and plans to be married May 27, 2000. Heather attends Georgia Southwestern State University and Sean is head wrestling coach and English teacher at Perry High School. He will spend this sum mer as one of eight TEAM Georgia coaches in Atlanta whose team will compete against other states in July in North Dakota at the national competition. Meanwhile Heather’s younger sister Stephany has completed her fresh man year at University of Georgia. She and her friend, Brian Carter of Hinesville, who graduated summa cum laude from UGA May 8, will visit his great grandmother in Germany and enjoy back packing. • •• Recently at Curves for Women, high school prom was the topic of conversa tion among the younger set pf excercisers. \ I divited Brittani Monroe and her friends to come by and show off for me before their dance. Thoughtful teens that they are, sure enough they did let me see them all dressed up even though they had so much tp do and so many places to go. I enjoyed showing them “the way we were." • •• The Miss Georgia Peach Pageants will be held May 15 at the Pettigrew Center at Ft. Valley State University. Winners will serve as ambassadors at the Georgia Peach Festival, June 18-20. The Tiny, Little and Junior Miss pageants will be held at 2 p.m. and the Teen and Miss pageants will be held at 7 p.m. Master of Ceremonies will be WMAZ news reporter Adam Murphy, along with the reigning Miss Georgia Peach, Tracy Ray, for the evening pageant. Mistresses of Ceremonies for the afternoon pageant will be Teen Miss Peach, Jenison Cooper, and Tracy Ray. • •• Charlotte Perkins has delved into the attic for Houston Home Journal news of the past. Be sure to read her column of memo ries every week . • •• Congratulations to Andrea Kirk who graduated from the University of Georgia May 8 with a Batchelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science. She previously graduated from The Westfield Schools and Middle Georgia College. Andrea plans to return to the University in the fall to pursue a Master's degree. Commencement exercises were attended by her moth er, Michelle Guthrie, and her grandparents.
