Harrell, Margaret Gid . dens and the late Homer P. all of Lakeland, Free Flag Day Concert at Museum of Aviation on June 14 Sfeciai. to the Home Journal robins Alr fBRCE BASE The United States Army Ground Forces Band from Fort McPherson, Atlanta, will present a free public Flag Day Concert at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins June 14 at 10 a.m. The even is co-sponsored by the Museum of Aviation Foundation and the Geor gia Society, Sons of the American Revolution. It is a part of the community wide Flag Day Celebration to be held on the Museum’s outdoor amphitheater. The band will perform patriotic selections, and the public will learn about the history' of the U.S. flag. Each attendee will receive a small U.S. Flag and a Flag Facts booklet. She is a graduate of Perry High School and attends Valdosta Technical Institute where she is studying to be a radiologic technologist. She is employed at Taylor Region al Hospital in Hawkinsville. The groom-elect is the grandson of Bonnie Jean Beard and the late Mack Beard of Morton. Miss., and Dot Folsom and the late L.C. Ellison of Perry. He is a graduate of Perry High School and is employed at Cascade Cor poration in Warner Robins. Telecommunications and chairman of the Museum of Aviation's national board of advisors. Bill Gambill, Deputy State Superintendent of Schools, and Ed Sterritt, President, GSSAR, will be on the program. The program will include a presentation on historic U.S. flags and the presen tation of awards to fourth and fifth grade winners of the Flag Day poster cont est. Tickets are not required for this event. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. The Museum of Aviation is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has 90 aircraft on display. It is located in Warner Robins at the intersection of Ga. 247 and Russell Parkway. Chicken nuggets, potato salad, ribbon sandwiches and dev iled eggs were topped off by cookies. Relish and pickles from Galle more’s pantry provided zip. After that delightful repast Floy Underwood gave a book review of “Eneas Africanus" by Harry Stillwell Edwards which was E repared especially for er presentation by her favorite book reviewer, her husband BUI. Robins personnel to take part in Memorial Day events ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE Memorial Day ceremonies at Andersonville National Historic Site will begin at 1:30 p.m. on May 30. The featured speaker at the annual observance will be J. Alan Liotta, Deputy Director, Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Offiqe ofthe Pentagon. The master of ceremonies will be Langdon C Sheffield, president. Friends of Andersonville. Personnel from Robins Air Force Base will conduct a 21 gun salute and members of the United States Marine Corps will present the colors and will also place the Avenue of Flags in the national cemetery on May 28. Boy Scouts from numerous troops and the Flint River Girl Scout Council will place American flags at each head stone in the cemetery prior to the Memorial Day obser vance. The traditional laying of wreathes will be conducted by various patriotic and civic organizations. Stafford named ACCG first vice president Houston County Commission Chairman J. Sherrill Stafford has been named first vice president of the Associ ation County Commissioners of Georgia. Assuming the post, he is in line to become the 2000-2001 president of the 85-year-old association, which serves Georgia’s 159 county governments. In the capacity of first vice president Stafford will play a key role in shaping the organizations policies and goals. He has served as chairman of the Houston County Com mission since 1991, and was mayor of Centerville prior to his involvement in coiintygovemment. He is chairman of th 21st Century Partnership and of the Georgia Regional Association, vice-chair of the Hous ton County Board of Health and co-chair of the Georgia Water Management Campaign. Mrs. Parker’s Cookies 1 C. shortening 1 C. sugar 1 C. brown sugar 2 eggs 1 t. soda 1 t. vanilla 2 C. quick oatmeal 2C. rice crispies * 1 C. chopped nuts 1 C. coconut 2 C. flour 1/2 t. salt Blend shortening and both sugars well. Add eggs and vanilla. Then add sifted dry ingredients. When well mixed, add oatmeal, cereal, nuts, and coconut. Roll into balls size of walnuts, flatten slightly on greased cookie sheet.
