She calls the trip a dream because she got to play with her grandbabies amid red tile roofs, views of the Main River and European bird watching. Then Simms was on to the Provence area and Montpellier, France to visit Claire and Michel Bandry, longtime friends since he was a visiting professor at Emory University. Montpellier is a commer cial/banking/shopping/ed ucational sort of city rather than heavily industrial. Most of Simms’ time was spent at Buzignargues where Claire has a really old (ancient) family home next to a 12th century church that joins onto some other houses and buildings in a sort of walled-city manner. The city is located in a wine-growing and generally agricultural area where people take their plastic jugs in to the wine co-op for a fill-up. Simms had much fun going to the butcher, baker, supermarket, touristy Aigues Mortes on the Mediterranean, historic district and botanical gar den of Montpellier and being stuffed with every thing from pigeon pate to conserve of canard (duck to us) plus lots of good breads and cheeses. She said she found the people to be very friendly and only one defect to the landscape: France is defaced from one end to the other by large examples MGT to hold graduation at Ga. It’s all over walls at railroad sta tions, on the sides of bridges, on abandoned buildings, factory walls, ad infinitum. There is no get ting away from it, she said. It seemed most of the Baptists of Moultrie came together with most of the Baptists of Perry and friends and relatives from far and nearby to celebrate the union surely made in Heaven. Later Bob Cummings and the Reflections provid ed musical accompaniment for the wonderful food and dance. The party was grand for the adults but even so for the junior attendants and many young children of guests as well. The happy couple overnighted at Henderson Village before departing for their St. Thomas and Aruba honeymoon. It was altogether fitting that the partying actually began May 20 with a trib ute to Kelli’s dad. Cliff Woods. Recently retired, he had been honored by a Weyer haeuser retirement festivi ty in Atlanta, but his fami ly was just waiting for a large family gathering to celebrate at home. It was timely for Kelli and Stacy to provide the guests for that as well as the wedding. • ••• Congratulations to Ash ley Carter and John Hul bert who were married in Athens, May 22. at St. James United Methodist Church.
