Flint bidding process which began in 1994 at the high est levels of government, according to Flint Energies spokesperson Hayley Greene. “Privatization projects like this are a result of spending priority changes within the Department of Defense," said Col. Randy Buck, Director of Public Works for Fort Benning. Flint Energies is not a newcomer to military oper ations. Robins Air Force Base hired Flint severed years ago to perform envi ronmental compliance test ing, and Flint serves two base housing units and the Museum of Aviation. Flint also provides power to Camp Darby at Fort Benning. Flint has launched 14 new programs since Janu ary 1999, and expects to make more expansion announcements soon. “We are positioning our- City of Georgia should make them work (gathering trash) and not charge the city for it." Worrall believes Perry is a pretty city but the trash is beginning to take a toll on it. Police Chief George Pot ter suggested they look into forming a “teen traffic court separate from the Munici pal Court." He said doing so would do two things: save parents money on insur ance and clean up the streets and on-ramps by sentencing the teens to trash detail. Potter also said, “It might even cut down on teen traf fic accidents." Moving on to the issue of adopting the final draft of the Houston County Ser vice Delivery Strategy, council members’ concerns were airdd about taxation" and “duplicate delivery of services." Council members decid ed not to adopt the resolu tion but to get an extension on the filing date. The new deadline date is set for Oct. 29, 1999. The Houston County Ser vice Delivery Strategy came about because of the House Bill 489 which was approved by the state in 1997. Tommy Morrison noted that the Creekwood pool was drained and “readied to be filled." The pool is scheduled to be opened on Memorial Day. Morrison said the park was “fairly clean." He noted that the picnic tables were “locked down" to avoid vandals from turning them over, tand that the lights were out in the pavilion because “someone knocked them out, breaking several fixtures as well." Council noted that the surplus items sale they recently held netted about $18,000; however, they still have surplus left. Council recommended another sur plus sale occur with this one being “a first come, first serve to the highest bidder” kind.
