Salutatorian at Perry High
Santos combines
lifestyle, work with
academic success
By Torey Jolley
High's Salutatorian for 1999 is
Ann Santos. She kept her
JL grades up even with a busy lifestyle.
Santos captured the Salutatorian title with
hard work and dedication. She earned a
96.44 grade point average while working part
time at the Perry Recreation Department for
the past two years.
“It was hard to do, but I learned to manage
my time,"said Santos, adding that sometimes

to “last minute"study habits. “I procrastinate
a lot," explained Santos.
Her techniques must have worked for her.

the History Club, International Club, and the
Perry High School Future Farmers of America
chapter.
Santos claims history is her favorite sub
ject and science as her least favorite subject.
However, she said the psychology and sociol
ogy classes she took this year were fascinat
ing.
In fact the two classes were so fascinating,
Santos is “leaning toward a psychology major
in coUege." University of Georgia is where
Santos is heading this coming fall. She is
interested in pursuing a degree with a
thought of becoming a child psychologist.
As for leaving home this fall, Santos
replied. "I have mixed emotions. It is scary
thinking about leaving home, but I want to
experience independence and have the
chance to meet new people."
Santos chose UGA for a couple of reasons.
First, her older sister, Michelle, is an UGA
