Class of 1999 Hears Closing Comments After Receiving Diplomas
Busy weekend ahead for
Reeves Arena
When t'erry tiigh School
students graduate June 4
at 8 p.m., they will begin
graduation exercises for all
Houston County public
school students.
i June 5, seniors from
Northside, Warner Robins
and Houston County will
walk across the Reeves
Arena stage.
June 6, students at the
Elberta Center will receive
their diplomas in cere
monies at the school.
Reeves Arena replaced
the Panther Pit and
McConnell-Talbert
Stadium as sites for gradu
ation several years ago
because of the controlled
environment.

Salutatorian and student
council president, gave

audience. The program
highlighted the seniors’
years through the
Westfield schools, video of
their years was shown. It
featured their first years.
group photos of the
school years, individual
photos of things they did,
and, finally, a baby or
toddler shot of each
senior and then their cur
rent photo.
Many of the classmates
had attended their entire
school career at Westfield.
Valedictorian Richard
Allen Coogle told the
graduating class, “1 chal
lenge you to remember
your experiences here at
Westfield."
He said honor,
Christian beliefs, and
morals should remain
high in their personal
lives.
Speaking for the class
of 1999 was Laura Leigh
Posey, class president.
Posey said, “This is the
end of one era of our lives,
but the beginning of a
new era."
Other speakers includ
ed Lauren Bryd, class
chaplain; Michael
Franklin, director of cur
riculum; Marvin
Arrington, principal; and
Sue Lott, counselor.
Following a long-time
Westfield tradition, as
seniors walked across the
stage, parents of the stu
dent were encouraged to
stand.
Music was provided by
pianist Deborah Walker.
After the ceremony, the
Westfield Parent Teacher
Association hosted a
reception honoring the
Class of 1999.
