Good morning faculty
and administration, stu
dents, and honored
guests, and welcome to
the 1999 Honors Day
Ceremonies at Periy
High School.
My name is Kit
Kitchens and I am the
President of the Class of
200-plus seniors, but
also 200-plus success
stories.
Within the next two
weeks we will graduate
and move on to bigger
things, but the only way
we got to where we are is
through the teachers
and administration here
and through the support
of parents and other
loved ones.
Our message today is
that of gratitude for all of
the leadership, guidance,
and hope the teachers
and counselors here
have given us.
As we look toward our
future, it’s almost impos
sible to imagine how we
could’ve gotten here
without their help.
As freshman, we
walked into this school
knowing only we were
going to be with people
who were older than us,
and as far as we knew it,
probably meaner and
tougher than we’d ever
seen before.
With the teachers’
help, we learned the
ropes of this school
quickly and that allowed

Senior Honors
Day May 20. Mil
the nervousness to
go away and it let the
memories begin.
When we look at why
the teachters fanct when I
say teachers, I mean fac
ulty and administration)
have had such an impact
on our years here, we
notice their teaching of
course, but to us it’s
more than that.
Some of us here con
sider our teachers
friends and when we
leave, we won’t miss the
homework (trust me) but
we will miss their com
pany and the support
they have given us.
Teachers have a lot of
responsibility now days.
It seems they have to be
educators as well as psy
chiatrists and, in some
cases, even law enforce
ment.
It takes a lot of guts to
get up every day and
make a lasting impres
sion on a young mind.
They deserve more
recognition than ever for
the jobs they do.
The members of the
senior class of 1999
would like to personally
thank the teachers for all
they do and we would
like them to know that
even though we don’t tell
them every day how

appreciative we are, we
are more thankful for
your support than
anything
throughout our
jJHB four years.
Si Now, for the
Wr underclassmen.
gjjMr I guess I should
tell you about the
importance of study
ing, getting your home
work down bn time, not
*tttii!#£*to the dfcfct
minute, and never quit
ting. Our advice to you is
ultimately to stick with
it. Times may seem
rough now, but in the
end, it’s all worth it.
The most important
thing we have to say to
you is that it’s important
to make your years
memorable.
We’re not saying com
promise the grades for
fun, because we all know
that failing isn’t exactly
the funnest thing in the
world, especially when
your parents ground you
for it and you can’t go
out on the weekend.
What we are saying, is
make your high school
years full of memories
and good times. All of us
have wonderful memo
ries of things we did.
Some have fond mem
ories of the band, playing
football, going to basket
ball games, being in FFA,
FBLA, Arrive Alive, and
other various clubs.
Get involved, have fun,
and enjoy it while it
lasts, because trust us,
the ride doesn’t last for
ever. Thank you.
