Edward Kinchen honored at Grovania church ceremony By Torey Jolley Home Journal Staff GROVANIA The Free Providence Baptist Church here honored Edward Kinchen with a tribute to his life May 30. Kinchen received accohidcs Irom var ious people in many middle Georgia communities. Kinchen. wheelchair bound, is in need of several more operations due to an injury nine years ago. Kinchen doesn't let his physical condition stop his "giving of himself." “I’ve always tried to help people and to help my com munity.” explained Kinchen. adding. "If I can ever be of sendee, please let me know." Perry City Councilman Bobby Glover told the con gregation that “Today is a special day. Houston County isn't composed of thijee cities, tyjjtyfojts. of corry munities. We re here today to honor a man that served to bring the communities together. We are here to say thank you to Brother Kinchen." Glover read a letter from Perry Mayor Jim Worrall and the city council recog nizing Kinchen as an “hon orary citizen of Perry" for Kinchen's service to the city. In addition. Glover present ed Kinchen with a citation of honor for his many volun teer sendees in the commu nity. Gail Robinson, Houston County commissioner said, "I am honored to be here today to help celebrate this spec ial day of recognition of Edward Kinchen. Kinchen is a vital member of our coun ty and we appreciate Edward Kinchen's work in the community." Commissioner Tom McMichael read a poem about how good timber grows. They wanted to raise money to purchase a new wheelchair for Kinchen. The current wheelchair is in bad shape. To help Kinchen continue his com munity sendee, the church is determined to raise the necessary money to do so. ••f Tht' •Rett'.
