Becca Akridge heads
Cheerlcading has l>een a
very big part of her life
since she was in seventh
grade. Therefore it s not too
surprising that Becca
Akridge graduated June 4
from Perry High School and
left Sunday for a summer
of instructing cheerleading
for Universal Cheerleaders
Association of Memphis,
Tenn.
This is the same organi
zation which instructed her
Perry High squad each
summer. She filled out a
summer instructor applica
tion last camp and heard in
the fall that she was eligi
ble for December tryouts in
Peachtree City for Georgia,
Alabama, Florida, North
and South Carolina.
In early March Akridge
learned she was selected.
That led to a week of train
ing at Panama Citv May 24
- 30.
This week she will be
instructing in Effingham
County. Each week will be
spent at a different college
teaching 5 or 6 squads of
high school and junior var
sitv cheerleaders. Not bad
to get paid for doing what
you love to do.
Becca plans to attend
Middle Georgia College in
the fall and hopes to be a
cheerleader, too. She ll be
on <ampus this Saturday
for tryouts. Good luck,
Becca.
Meanwhile, her sister
Tara is attending Kenne
saw State University and
finalizing plans for her
First Baptist Church Perry
