Help feed the pig for
Meals on Wheels
It was a pink plastic pig.
It had a slogan printed on
its side. “Feed the Pig for
Meals on Wheels". I heard
someone say. “What's
meals on wheels?” I told
them it is a wonderful pro
gram in Houston County
which provides lunch
meals at low cost to senior
citizens all over the area.
Each Monday through
Friday, hard working vol
unteers deliver the nutri
tious meals to people who
are often living alone and
in poor health.
The pig is a way to collect
donations for this worthy
charity and publicize this
program many people still
haven't heard about. Word
is that there are now pigs
popping up all over town.
So now you know what
must be done. Feed the pig!
Among sponsors thus far
are: Security Bank (former
ly Crossroads Bank),
Hamby Automotive Net
work (2 pigs), CB&T Bank,
Harvey’s, Bank of Perry
and Impressions. Perhaps
your business could spon
sor a pig. Donna James,
Executive Director of Meals
on Wheels, can be reached
at 328-6070.
Meanwhile, Meals on
Wheels volunteers will have
a bake sale at Kmart , June
26 beginning at 8 a.m. All
bake sale items arc home
made and all proceeds will
go to the elderly. Donations
will be accepted.

PHS faculty
celebrates
end of school
By Torjey Jolley
School may be over for
the students but teachers
are still in school only
not to teach, but to finish

work and no fun on June
9. Perry High School facul

a luncheon in celebration
of the successful comple
tion of another year of
work.
Phil Smith, PHS princi
pal, said, “It has been a
good year and it has been a
difficult year a year of
joys and a year of
tragedies. We had a great
year with our test results
and meeting our goals. I
want to thank each of you
for your impact on Perry
High."
Juan Thompson, retiring
after over 30 years in the
teaching field,
“bequeathed” special items
to those remaining in his
stead. Items such as a slid
er ruler, Kleenex box, chalk
chucks, and a double deck
er key ring were carefully
chosen for each recipient.
