Alltel, Tolleson vie for title By CART BAXTER the second half of the Perry Junior League Major League, began a three game playoff series June 21 with Tolleson Supply, winners of the first half of the season. Pitchers with the best records for the season were Josh Davidson of Tolleson and Josh O’Neal of Alltel. Both finished 5-2. Shane Ashley of Kiwanis had 89 strikeouts in 49 Innings. Jordy Stokes was the leading home run hitter with 6 . He plays for Alltel. Dusty Denton of Tolle son took the batting title with a .538 average. Sec ond were Daniel Peake of MMM, CPA, and Stephen James of Alltel with a .500 average. Others in the top 10 were Timmy McCoy, MMM, CPA .442; Bruce Vance, Tolleson, .436; Brandon Doles, Baxter. CPA, .429; Jordy Stokes, Alltel, .417; Grant Brant ley, Tolleson, .386; Jeff Barfield, MMMC, CPA, .386; and Josh O’Neal, All tel, .383. In final regular season action, Kiwanis downed MMM. CPA. 5-1; Alltel slipped past Baxter, CPA, 6-5; Tolleson outscored Baxter 15-13; nad Kiwanis downed Alltel 6-4. Michael Roberts of Kiwanis had no walks and 11 strikeouts. He also had two doubles, a single, 3 RBI and a run scored. Brandon Doles helped Baxter in the game with Alltel with a home run, a single, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Corey Jones of All tel had the game-winning hit along with an RBI. Bruce Vance of Tolleson managed a home run, a single, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.
