We believe in these truths:
That our forefathers fought on this continent for a free nation more than 225 years ago.
That this nation declared itself free from outside intervention July 4, 1776
That our Constitutional form of government was adopted 12 years later, and that freedom of speech
was part of the Bill of Rights attached to that constitution.
That others of our forefathers have fought in a succession of wars since to protect our freedoms,
including the freedom of speech.
That because of the efforts of many, the right to free speech has been preserved.
Therefore the residents of the United States enjoy the greatest freedoms in the world, including t lie
right to free speech and a hometown newspaper which prints stories without bias or ill intent.
We celebrate this birthday of our country firmly fixed on the heritage of almost 129 years of contin
uous service to Houston County because of the freedom of speech which Americans enjoy.
