Sheila Feightner Feightner is new associate pastor at Perry UMC By CHARLOTTE PERKINS ‘^MdlaTsgK ner is now serving Perry United Methodist Church as Associate Pastor. Rev. Feightner, who has lived in Warner Robins most of her life, is a gradu ate of Northside High School and Wesleyan Col lege and is studying for her Masters in Divinity at the Candler School of Theology, Emory University. She has been in the min istry since 1990, and has served as pastor for the Chauncey-Benevolence United Methodist charge in Dodge County and at the Pineview-Finleyson United Methodist Church in Pineview. Prior to entering the min istry she worked for ten years for the Houston County Board of Educa tion. She preached her first sermon at th age of 16. The ministry was my first call ing," she says, “but being female. I chose to answer it in another way through being a good wife and mother and serving in my church. Then came the day when I could no longer deny what God was say ing." Her work at Perry United Methodist Church will include visitation, older adult ministries, meeting new members, assisting Pastor Bill Strickland, and preaching. She will give her first sermon at the church on July 11, 1999. Her husband, Harold Feightner, who works at Robins Air Force Base, is a lay speaker assigned to th Pineview-Finleyson. He is also studying to become a licensed minister. They have recently moved to Perry The Feightners have two daughters and a son: Lindy, who teaches at Quail Run Elementary School: Angel, a senior at the Uni versity of Chicago, and Greg, who has just com pleted his freshman year at the University of Georgia. They also have an eight year old grandchild, James. Mayor Worrall elected to GMA Board of Directors tasm ™ Peny Mayor Jim Worrall was elected to the Georgia Municipal AssociationOs Board of Directors during the association’s annual meeting in Savannah June 29, Worrall will serve as First Vice President of GMAOs Sixth District. The district includes cities in the following coun ties: Putnam. Jones, Mon roe, Bladwin, Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson. Crawford, Peach, and Houston. "We are pleased to have Mayor Worrall Joining the board," said GMA Executive Director Jim Calvin. “He’s well respected by his colleagues, and I’m sure he’ll provide great leader ship to the cities in his region," Calvin added. Local churches plan programs, activities for children New Life to host children New Life of Perry, Church of Pen tecost, will host the Tupelo Chl dren’s Mansion at 7 p.m., on July 20. Approximately 15 children with presented the children's home, singing and presenting testi mony. The Children's Manision is a Mississippi orphanage that houses 150-200 children.
