The weekend of June 26 &
27 was the fifth reunion of
descendants of Josiah and
Nancy Britt. It was held at
the Perry VFW for about 65
people from California, Flori
da. Georgia, Ohio and Okla
homa. Thomas and Shelby
Arnold and Beth Pennington
hosted the event.
The Britts had seven
daughters, of whom six are
still alive. The sisters are
Frances Luella King, Jack

County to see how the area
has grown while some played
golf.
Saturday late afternoon
sisters and their families
gathered at the VFW for a
low-country boil of shrimp

together and swapping sto

much entertainment. Sun

While reading the charter
of the VFW on the wall of the
building, the family found a
bit of trivia that two of the
children are descendents of
one of the founders of the
Perry VFW. Josie Luther at
one time was married to Art
Kidney (now deceased) and
their two children are Arthur
Kidney and Nancy Nelson. It
was a surprise for them to
learn that their father was
once a member. During their
life in Perry their mother,
Josie, had the restaurant
Jo’s Drive-In, now' P & Grill.
In the five years of this
event contacts have been
made with cousins in this
area and nearby and looks to
grow in years to come. Two
websites have been set up
for instant messages
between 16 family members
and genealogy site set up to
trace roots. So if you are a
descendent of the Britt or
Worsham family, mark your
calendar for June 24 - 25,
2000 for a good time of fun
and renewal of family val
ues.
