Obituaries James Edward Cloud James Edward Cloud of Macon died on July 28, 1999 at the Houston Coun ty Medical Center. Services were held al 11 a.in.. July 31. in the Chapel ol Crest Lawn Funeral Chapel. Mr. Cloud was a member ot Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, a member and past Master of Ruth land Lodge #298 F and AM. and an honorary member of Mickey Fuller Lodge #720 F and AM: Macon Lodge #5 FA’AM: Marshall A. Weir # 448 F and AM and Lizella Ivodge #663 F and AM. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Woodmen of the World and the A.A.R.P. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base. His wife, Dorothy H. Cloud, preceded him in death. Houston County Career and Technology Center in Warner Robins is i state-of-the-art facility. According to Clifford Holmes. administrative assistant for Vo/Tech administration, this school, located at the intersection of Corder Road and Russell Parkway in Warner Robins, is different. “It offers students who have had pioblems adjust ing to the rigors of a regular classroom situation the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, not a cer tificate of attendance, and learn a marketable skill." Kathleen Freeman Ayer Kathleen Freeman Ayer, 96. of 1026 Keith Drive, died Aug. 9 at her resi dence. Graveside services were held in the Myrtle Hill cemetery in Hogansville at 11 a.m. on Aug. 11. Mayo Sexton officiated. Mrs. Ayer was a native of said Holmes. The school will have stu dents taking basic classes such as math, science, social studies, and English, through Nova Net. Nova Net is a computer based education system. There are 60 Nova Net sta tions currently, but Holmes said the school hopes to increase that number by 30 soon. Nova Net representative Cindy Cofield said, "Nova Net is an online learn ing system that links edu cators with progressive technology and proven teaching methods. It offers individualized instruction with flexible delivery." Holmes said that ensures students learn at their own rate. However, students will soon to Randy Doughtry. whom she met through the Middle Georgia Junior Rodeo Association. Following the wedding she will move to Doughtiy’s farm home near Metter. She plans to pursue college studies. The widow of Ken neth Ayer, she was a home maker and widow of Kenneth Ayer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She is survived by a great niece, Jeanne Sexton of Perry, and a great nephew, Larry Hunt of Butler. Watson Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Joseph E. Goodroe Jr. Joseph E. Goodroe Jr.. 52, of Danville, died Aug.B, 1999, in Perry. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Danville, with the Rev. Scott Morris and Elder Sam Bryant officiat ing. Mr. Goodroe was a native of Dooly County and lived not be left to study alone. “Each class will have a teacher to help facilitate the course. All students will take the Nova Net basic edu cation classes. The voca tional classes will be hands on study." he said. Holmes said the school’s openings are currently filled . “We have 105 stu dents. Our goal was to have 200, but we are at capacity now. We have a waiting list.” Students must come in and apply to the career and technology center for entrance into the program “Not everyone gets in. We have guidelines. They must be at least 16 years of age and have gone through the ninth grade not passed necessarily, but gone as a “Purple Bear" award for service on the job. Jimmy Kenneth Wilson Jimmy Kenneth Wilson of 205 Windermere Drive, died Aug. 3, 1999 in Perry. The Rev. Bill Strickland, Rev. Sheila Feightner and the Rev. John Buchanan officiated. The eulogy was given by Larry Walker. Burial was in the Perry Memorial gardens. A native of Perry, Mr. Wilson had lived here for the past 4 1/2 years, mov ing here from Ocala, Fla.. He was a Perry High School graduate, a graduate of Georgia State University, an Army veteran and cur rently a supervisor for the Georgia Dept, of Correc tions. He had retired as a Cen tral Service Manager for Sears with 30 years of ser vice. He was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church, where he was president of the Pathfind ers Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Diana Venema Wilson of Peny; a son, David Wil son of Japan; a daughter.
