City Council incumbents set plans to seek 1999 re-election By Toret Jolley Home Journal Staff s^TCreeTernTCity = Councn incumbents Charles F. Lewis, Bobby E. Glover, and James L. Moore announced their intent to run for re-election in the coming November elec tions. All three are long-time members of the council. The announcements came during a council meeting Aug. 17. Moore stated, “I have been on the city council for nine years. It has been a very good experience for me. I’ve learned a lot. “We have accomplished a great many things through teamwork," Moore contin ued. “It is not just one per son, but it everyone work ing together for city's best interest. As a team mem ber, I have worked toward a lot of progress for the city, in such things as Cagle, airport growth, and devel opment on the Perry Park way.” Moore added. “One thing I want to see accomplished is a strong unsafe housing ordinance one which will rid the city of unsafe build ings. An strong ordinance will not only make the city look better, but will ensure the safety of its citizens." Of his re-election bid, Lewis said, “I’m going to seek re-election. There's a lot of opportunity for the city. We have worked hard laying the groundwork in the past. I want the oppor tunity to see the projects to completion. “I want to work for the people to continue to improve the city,” Lewis said. “My goals are to work tbr the benefit tff the tftty. to continue to “improve*' community in order to maintain a good quality of life in the city." Glover, too, wants to continue his work within the council. “I want to con tinue to work with the city council for the people. We have important work in areas of recreation, hous ing, economics, as well as unity among local govern ments that must be contin - ued. 'Tve been working dili gently for the benefit of the community. I want the opportunity to continue that work," Glover said. The election will be Nov. 2.
