with chicken barbecue

plates Sept. 2. 4:30 to 7
p.m. at the school.
Plates will include half
chicken, baked potato,
green beans, roll and cake
for $5. Please purchase
your tickets by Aug. 27 at

will go for equipment and
supplies for the school.

the first fund-raiser for the
new school. Monetary
donations are requested for
playground equipment for
the Pre K. Kindergarten
and First Grade classes
from parents, businesses,
friends, clubs, civic groups,
anyone willing to help.
They’re starting out with
only a couple of Pre-K play
pieces from the elementary
schools.

Oct. 1, Perry High School
will honor their 1959 foot
ball team for having won
the Region 2B Champi
onship 40 years ago. Their
record was 9-3-1 under
Head Coach Herb St. John
including a win over Warn
er Robins 26-7.
A reception will be held
at 6:30 p.m. in the PHS
lunchroom. During half
time of the game with the
Jackson High Red Devils,
all team members and
coaches will be recognized
on the field as the only
Perry High football team to
ever win a region football
championship.
All the players, coaches
and manager are being
mailed an invitation this
week. There were only
three players whose
addresses could not be
found: Don Baker. Lariy
Edwards and John Whit
worth. Anyone who knows
the w’hereabouts of these
men, please call Dicky

important to reach all
members of this team.

needed to join the 10th
annual Georgia National
Fair/Farm * City Days
Parade Oct. 9. The theme is
“A Perfect Ten”.
The parade will line up at
9 a.m. along Washington
Street in front of the
Library and City Hall. Start
time is 10 a.m. and the
parade will go to the Agri
center by way of Carroll
Street and Courtney
Hodges Boulevard.

After living 11 years in
Jesup they have purchased
the Milton Beckham home
on Main Street. Joe is still
managing Atlantic Oil and

resumed her job with the
Sports Center.

library is also being

Since its beginning in
March of '93, the Pregnan
cy Care Center, affiliated
with national CARENET,
has helped hundreds of
girls in all of Houston
County and surrounding
counties.

and are to be expanded
soon. Volunteer counselors
