He would have been, except for missing the team's last game of the sea son, and sitting out a good portion of the Macon Coun ty game after suffering an injury. Still. Kendrick gained 906 yards. Gone are the players who took a lot of pressure off Kendrick. Donte Holmes will be at Middle Georgia College, while Dontarrious Thomas is at Auburn. This season Collins will find out just how sturdy his return ing star is. One player who is sturdy is Matt Dennis. He could be a star on either side of the line of scrimmage. Primari ly a defensive lineman last season, Dennis could be asked to switch over to the offensive line this season, a move coaches feel would enhance his chances for a college scholarship. Fred Ridley has the potential to be a dominat ing linebacker this season, coming off an outstanding junior year during which he recorded more than 100 tackles (64 first hits and 41 assists). In Macon County, second year coach Chris Reeves seeks to recover from the loss of many players. He opens the season with class AAA state champion Dougherty County. He’ll get an early indication of what kind of team he has. Reeves does return out standing running back Corkney Drew, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards last season. The Bulldogs will dress out only about 30 players to start the season, a far cry from the 50 or so who greeted C.B. Cornett in fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Johnson off their state runner-up team, and he will be looked to by first year coach Alan Rodemaker for leadership. Though Peach has some lofty pre-season rankings, it could be a disappointing season for Trojan fans, who are among the most sup portive in this area. At Northside. He replaces Joe Salas, who made the jump from class A to AAAA. moving to Baldwin County. Dan Ragle left Americus for Ware County, and Eric Soliday comes back to the middle Georgia area to take over the Americus Pan thers. Soliday had left Turner County two years ago for a two-year stint at Henry County. Tony Byram left the Crawford County job in the hands of his defensive coordinator Randy Robin son as Bvram mover to Heard County. There was also a change at Hawkinsville. Jim Morrell left for Harris County, and the Red Devils brought back one-time assistant, home-grown Lee Campbell to take over the program. Campbell had been head coach at Montgomery County, so that position was left vacant. Robbie Grace gets the job. Donnie Clack, the longtime Wilcox County coach, finally stepped down, and that job will be handled by David Cochran. And. of course, there's Rodemaker at Peach County. There will be many potential all stars to watch this season.
