The program, sponsored by the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Edu cation and the Georgia Municipal Association Gas Section, was designed to address anticipated federal training regulations for gas operators. This certificate program required each student to participate in 46 different modules. For each module, participants studied a workbook, attended a class, and passed an exam on the material. The City of Perry, along with many municipalities throughout Georgia, has supported its gas operators in the completion of the certificate program. Rosner with the Perry Police Department has completed a three-day training program at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth. By concentrating on tasks that follow detection and arrest, this training enhances the Perry Police Department's ability to successfully prosecute DUI cases. Funding for this program has been provided by the State of Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The Georgia Public Safe ty Training Center provides training programs for local and state certified public safety officers at no cost to the local community for tuition, meals or lodging.
