Westfield actually outscored Sher wood 32-30 over the last three quarters, but cold shooting of their own plus a hot hand by the Lady Eagles put them in control early. The Lady Hornets never found the shooting range, from the field or the foul line, as they battled to overcome the huge first quarter deficit. Westfield hit Weir scored six points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws. scored eight points as Crisp cut the Hornets’ lead to five points at half time, 25-20. Westfield's defense shut the Wildcats down in the third, though, holding them to five points while increasing their lead to 35-25 at the end of three quarters. Weir and Sexton scored four points each for the Hornets, while Hall hit his second three pointer for the Wildcats. Perry High School basketball teams were hard at work, involved in tournaments here in Houston County and in Albany. Coach Carl Thomas and his Panthers chose to partic ipate In the KFC Classic this past weekend. Playing in the opening game Dec. 17 at the Albany State Gymnasium, Perry fell to the Terrell Coun ty Greenwave 61-47. The loss sent Perry to the consolation round where they faced Tift County Dec. 20. The Panthers lost that one 72-47. Thomas said after his team’s return home to Perry that the losses were a result of a team breakdown and mental mistakes. “We had no inside game during the tournament. “ Thomas said. “We are still struggling against pressure. "Against Tift’s man to man, we held our own. In the second, against full court pressure, we Just wilted," he added.
