Hostesses were Ruth Saxon and Mar garet Talton. Spode Christmas Tree place cards, straw orna ments and camellias of member Eloise Gallemore adorned the table. The program was pre sented by Jeanne Bledsoe. She read two old familiar Christmas favorites. The first was Peter Marshall's “Let's Keep Cliristmas.” She used Us wife’s introduction which told the experience that prompted his writing of this piece. This Christmas classic stresses the spiritual meaning of Christmas, encourages the continua tion of ancient Christmas traditions, and promotes the right attitude toward this sacred event. Although written almost 50 years ago, the descrip tion of the world situation at that time parallels that of the present day. The world still seeks “Peace on earth; good will toward men." The second selection was O. Henry’s famous short story, “The Gift of the Magi." In this story, a young man and his wife each sacrifices a most trea sured possession to-buy a Christmas gift for the other. It has an unexpected but heart-warming ending. According to club tradi tion members exchanged mystery Christmas gifts, only to “fess up from whom, after all. A highlight for everyone was singing “Happy Birthday" to mem ber Carolyn Whipple who was at the Hotel with her family. ••• Wilson and Una Martin hosted a family Christmas dinner at The Steak House in Hawkinsville, Dec. 19. Joining them were Wilson and Mildred Martin of Mari etta, Chad and Dr. Kelly Martin of Atlanta, Jud Mar tin and Christy Whitfield of Oxford, Bobby and Jean Davis of Kathleen, Stephanie Davis, Keith Davis of U.G.A. and Brook Dearing of Kennesaw.
