Hamlin, along with members of
a committee appointed by Mayor
Jim Worrall , consisting of
Charles Lewis, Ralph Gentry and
Phyllis Grace, is hoping that over
the next several years new Christ

Many of the present decora-

Now, those deoorations are get

more time consuming and costly,
said Hamlin.
A few years ago, the City be
gan urging citizens and busi
nesses to use white lights in an
effort to promote uniform light
ing.
Many downtown businesses
lined their store fronts with
white lights as part of the Illu
mination
This year, City Manager Lee
Gilmour got the approval of city
council to budget monies for the
expenditure of new Christmas
lighting, with some $4,000 being
set aside for that purpose.
During a recent committee
meeting, the group looked at bro
chures defining types of decora
tions, such as lights and banners
, and the cost.
The committee is hopeful that
money may be budgeted each fis
cal year for the next several years
That way, the entire town will
eventually be dressed in new
decorations.
Any civic organizations that
would like to help are encouraged
to contact city hall.
