Nicole and Steven Franklin of Perry were united in marriage June
10, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Perry.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Linda Fountain of Perry.
The groom is the son of Randy and Karen Franklin of Perry.
The Rev. Larry Wood, former Youth Minister of the bride, per
formed the double ring ceremony. Michael Marshall, pianist and
friend of the groom, presented the prelude including selections by
Handel, Beethoven, and Bach. Tammy Conner, organist, joined him
in the bridal processional. Other musical selections included a trum
pet solo by B.J. Johnson for the processional of the wedding party,
and vocal solos by Allen Wood. The candlelit sanctuary was deco
rated with greenery and floral arrangements of yellow cala lilies,
Alasmeer gold roses, white Avant lilies, blue delphiniums, and Fuji
mums.
The bride carried a bouquet of miniature white calla lilies and
Ecuadorian roses. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were yellow calla lillies,
Alasmeer gold roses, and blue delphinimums.
The reception was held at the Annabelle Lundy Fetterman Mu
seum, Massee Lane Gardens.
The bride’s gown was of pearl colored Italian satin designed with
spaghetti straps and a fitted bodice featuring delicate embroidery of
petite and seed pearls, crystals and bugle beads. The drop waistline
released a softly flared skirst bordered at the hem with matching
embroidery. Embroidered bonding fell from the center back extend
ing the length of the attached chapel length train. She wore a match
ing fingertip length veil of silk illusion. The veil was held by a nar
row beaded band of seed and oat pearls and clear crystals. The bride
carried an English coin from her father and wore a ring borrowed
from the groom’s mother.
The bridesmaids’ dresses were two piece navy brushed satin with
A-line skirts.
Maid of honor was Julie Griger of Perry.
Bridesmaids were Johanna Golden of Perry, Angela Matheny of
Marietta, Tammie Peppers of Cumming, and Meagan Tate of
Alpharetta.
Flower girl was Cara Bailie of Easley, S.C.
Best man was Randy Franklin of Perry.
Groomsmen were Kent Franklin, Joseph Fountain, and Thad Hawk
of Perry and Wade Stewart of of Kathleen.
Ring bearer was Connor Bailie of Easley, S.C.
Program attendants were Erin Bailie of Easley, S.C. and Kelly
Franklin of Perry.
Following a honeymoon at the Island of Aruba, the couple is mov
ing to Laurel, Miss., where Steven will be a temporary manager of a
Chick-fil-A.
Showers included:
• April 1 - Kitchen shower in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist
Church from 2 until 4 p.m. Given by Julie Griger, Barbara Griger,
Hazel Ann Gleaton, Mary Ann Steele, Ruby Jackson, and Debbie
Pearson.
• May 13 - Tools and Towels Shower at the home of Sandy Smith
on Cedar Ridge. Given by Sandy and Stephanie Smith, Tara Mclnvale,
and Karen Akridge. A lasagna supper was served on the lawn after
which the bride and groom were honored with many useful gifts
from friends and family.
• May 20 - Miscellaneous Shower honoring Nicole and Steven at
the home of Alline and Ronnie Kent, cousins of the groom, at their
home in Warner Robins. Following a barbeque dinner, family mem
bers of both the bride and groom feted them with gifts. Of special
interest was the cake decorated with the bride and groom’s picture.
• May 27 - Lingerie Shower by Johanna and Judy Golden. Brunch
was served in the Garden Room of the New Perry Hotel with all the
bridal attendants present for the shower.
• June 9 - Following the rehearsal at First Baptist Church, the
Rehearsal Dinner given by the groom’s parents was held at the Perry
Country Club.

Lanorris Tanesha Fleming and Joseph Thomas Askew would like
to announce their recent engagement. Lanorris is the daughter of
the late Mrs. Alberta Fleming and Mr. Thomas McGhee. Joseph is
the son of Mr. Joseph Askew and Mrs. Andrea and Mr. Bobby Barner.
The ceremony is planned for September 16, 2000, at Shiloh Bap
tist Church in Henderson.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mattie West. She is a
1994 graduate of Perry High School. She is also a 1999 graduate of
Valdosta State University where she earned a bachelor of arts de
gree in English and journalism. She is employed by The Houston
Home Journal as a staff writer.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Williams
and Mr. Luscious Allen and the late Mrs. Lilly Mae Askew and Mr.
Richard Askew. He is a 1994 graduate of Perry High School. Upon
graduation he entered the United States Airforce where he received
an associate’s degree in electrical mechanical technology from CCAF.
During his tour of duty he attended Minot State University, Wesley
College of Delaware, Delaware State University and Central Texas
University. He is currently employed with Coldwell Banker Robbins
& Free Realty where he is a licensed Realtor for the state of Georgia.

Air Force Airman Rashan B.
Whitehead has graduated from
basic military training at
lackland Air Force Base, San
Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of train
ing, the airman studied the Air
Force mission, organizatio9n,
and customs and received special
training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who com
plete basic training earn credits
toward an associate degree
through the Community College
of the Air Force.
Whitehead is the son of Angela
Whitehead of Bonaire.
