Houston County Emergency Agency Director Jimmy Williams, center, unloads cots provided by the state to be used in case of a
disaster. Thirteen hundred cots, blankets and comfort kits arrived at the Agricenter and were unloaded, sorted and stored by
members of the local American Red Cross, Houston County Fire Department, Troup County Fire Department and Peach County Fire
Department. The provisions will be kept at the Agricenter, which is a designated hurricane evacuee shelter. Williams said the
issuance of these supplies to keep on hand in storage is a direct result of Hurricane Floyd which brought thousands of coastal
evacuees to Perry in 1999. Also pictured: Firefighters Rene Kitchens and Sean Halpin.
