WARNER ROBINS -
Players and Coaches alike, are
forced to sacrifice portions of
their daily lives in order to run
a sports program and it seems
that sports banquets are just a
way of paying each other back.
The Warner Robins
Demonettes softball team held
their annual sports banquet
Sunday evening at Ryan’s
Steakhouse in Warner Robins.
“It’s kind of a good bye and a
thank you for all that they have
done,” said Warner Robins head

MACON - Like the boys’
game, Westfield’s girls domi
nated Windsor’s team all night
long in a 55-43 victory.
“Our goal was to come in and
just pressure them all over the
court and that’s what we
did...playing man to man
defense and I think that’s what
won the game for us,” said
Westfield head coach Leigh Ann
Champion
Ashley Burger finished the
night with 20 points in a domi
nating performance. The next
highest personal total of the
night came from Windsor’s
coach Brenda Arnett. “It’s a
happy time and a sad time.”
The girls themselves voted
the team’s Most Valuable
Player. The Demonettes MVP
for 2002 will be Erica Pope.
Pope is a senior and four year
letterman and recently signed a
scholarship with Abraham
Baldwin Agricultural College.
“It’s exciting... it makes me
feel special that my teammates
recognize that I did a good job
for them,” said Pope.

PERRY - Defense was the
name of the game Saturday
night at the Panther Pit as
Perry defeated Warner Robins
39-35.
“I think it was a great defen
sive effort, not just by us but by
Warner Robins as well,” said
Perry Jjeadcoach John Chance.
The coach is right too as the
scores were 24 and 16 points
less for Perry and Warner
Robins respectively than when
the teams last met.
The Lady Panthers, record
stands at 5-0, while the
Demonettes overall record is 5-
3 they remain undefeated in
region play.

PERRY - Seven points is
starting to be a running joke for
Perry in the young 2002 season.
Unfortunately, it’s the end of
a very bad punch line for the
Panthers.
Seven points once more was
the deficit for Perry in a 73-66
loss against Warner Robins at
the Panther Pit Saturday night
and seems to be the number
that haunts Perry head coach
Brett Hardy these days.
“I’m just getting tired of get
ting beaten by seven points,”
said Hardy. “I keep telling them
we’re going to find a way to
make up those seven points. We

MACON - Westfield traveled
to Windsor Friday night in
search of a second win in as
many weeks against the Macon
school.
The Hornets easily found it
with a 73-45 victory.
“We didn’t do very good
shooting in the first half but we
did a good job of hustling and
getting offensive rebounds,”
said Westfield head coach
Duane Hunter. “It was good to
be able to play everybody in the
second half.”
Bubba Blalock led his team to
victory with 20 points for the
night. Blalock was aided by an
