WARNER ROBINS
Houston County Sheriffs
Office Sgt. Mike Stokes report
ed a number of arrests and cita
tions resulting from a sobriety
check point conducted by the
Middle Georgia Traffic
Enforcement Network in
Warner Robins Friday night.
The check point was held at
the intersection of Elberta Road
and Ga. 247 and began about
8:30 p.m.
By the time law enforcement
personnel wrapped up the
check about 3 a.m., a number of
people faced DUI and other
charges.
Bonaire Middle School students honored

STATESBORO - Ryan Prior,
Stephanie Spence, Kyle Yawn
and Katie Causey were honored
with a medallion from the Duke
University Talent
Identification Program (TIP) at
the Georgia State Recognition
Ceremony In Statesboro on
May 22.
The Duke University TIP is
dedicated to being a national
leader in identifying academi
cally talented students and pro
viding innovative programs to
support the development of
their optimal educational
potential. In the 2003 Talent
Search, a total of 20,140 stu
dents from TIP’S 16-state
region scored well enough to be
invited to a state ceremony.
This represents 25 percent of
the students who actually test
ed. In Georgia, 1,652 students
out of 6,519 who tested quali
fied for a state ceremony.
In order to be invited to the
state ceremony in Georgia, stu
dents had to either have a math
or verbal score of 510 on the
SAT.

HOUSTON BRIEFS
According to Stokes, Houston
County Sheriffs Office logged
in 64 citations, 24 arrests, 15
suspended license, and five
DUIs.
The Georgia State Patrol
reported 28 citations, one DUI,
three suspended license, nine
no insurance, one open contain
er and 14 other violations.
A number of local agencies
assisted with the road check,
however, since this portion of
Ga. 247 is located in the coun
ty’s jurisdiction which is also
the jurisdiction of GSR those
two agencies reported the
arrests and citations, said
Stokes.

Students must present a cur
rent driver’s license, proof of
insurance, current tag number,
