Commerce, informing them of the benefits of running a drug-free workplace.

Say what?
NEW YORK (AP) - Highway
signs will soon encourage driv
ers on their way out of the
Brooklyn borough to "fughedda
boudit.”
Borough President Marty
Markowitz created the signs as
"another great example of the
Brooklyn attitude" that would
give people one last chance to
"turn their cars around and stay
in the promised land."
"Once you enter Brooklyn,
there's no good reason why you
should ever leave," Markowitz
said.
The 5-foot-by-8-foot signs
read "Leaving Brooklyn,
Fugheddaboudit," and will be
installed by the end of the week
at exit points on the Gowanus
Expressway, the Brooklyn-
Queens Expressway and the
Belt Parkway.
Markowitz created signs last
year to welcome motorists to
the borough, with phrases like,
"Where New York City Begins!"
and "Not Just A Borough, An
Experience."

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Trips
to the Wisconsin Historical
Museum now come with a price
and so does just stopping at its

A sign popped up in front of
the museum recently saying the

The sign accompanied a new
museum policy that includes a
suggested donation of $4 for
adults, $3 for children and $lO
for families.
Museum director Ann Koski
said the levy is a regrettable fact
of life in tight budget times. The
museum has been forced to cut
about 15 staffers and will lose
around $750,000 from its budg
et, as legislators grapple with a
$3.2 billion state budget deficit.
"The impetus, unfortunately,
is money, or a lack thereof,"
Koski said. "In order to be able
to clean the building and staff
it, we’ve had to go to admission
by donation."
Attendance already has
dropped by about a third since
museum workers started asking
for money at the door.

But Williams didn't stick
around to hear his fate.
According to his defense
attorney, John D. Mills, the
state had concluded its case
against Williams and it was
time for his client to decide if he
wanted to testify.
"He was undecided," Mills said
Tuesday. "He asked the judge to
take an afternoon break."
Circuit Judge James R.
Thompson complied, but when
the trial resumed, Williams
couldn't be found.

The two sides presented clos

Mills said he didn't expect

"The judge didn't issue a

Mills said. "He wasn't in con

Thief breaks into
locksmith business
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (AP)
- A locksmith's lock apparently
wasn't too tough for a burglar to
bust.
A thief broke into the Charles
Town Lock & Key store over the
weekend and stole keymaking
equipment, master keys and a
set of key codes with about 50
corresponding business names,

Aaron Greenburg said. He said
residential locks were not
affected.
The burglar has "got to be
somebody who knows about
locksmithing, because they
knew exactly what to take," said
owner Marylou Hill.
Store employees are warning
affected businesses of height
ened security risks.
"They're all going to have to
be rekeyed," Greenburg said.
