Chris Vicknair was spe

the Dominican Republic.
“It was good fun,” Vicknair
said.
Vicknair, 13, along with 12
other “campers” attended the
camp July 16-22 to learn about
soccer and the area as well. He
played games for two days before
taking a tour of the area and
receiving a free day to do whatev

“We saw castle parts and forts,

Vicknair said. “The first few days
we had two days for the games

While Vicknair felt compelled

Terry Gray takes to the dirt for a practice run recently. The
2001 and 2002 USCS National Champion will be but one of
many hard-hitters competing at Cochran Motor Speedway
Saturday.
“The other teams are fast,”
said Vicknair, who plays both
goalkeeper and defense. “Most of
them are so fast they can get
right by the goal and shoot it in.
“It can get kind of frustrating;
I couldn’t do anything about it.
Some of those other teams are
bigger, better, and that first game
we didn’t really know each other
but the second day we did a lot
better.”
Vicknair took the opportunity
to learn a great deal from his for

they get closer I know what to

said.

Swimmers can win individual
races or be a part of a relay
team, and Parker expects a lot
of both.
“Every year my goal is to get
as many kids in the final as pos
sible,” Parker said. “But, I try
to qualify all 20 relays into the
finals.
“I have a core group of 20-30
kids where every one should be

Abigail Cunningham are stand

well and maybe even win
