Perry High School Class of 1953 holds peunion
Special to the HHJ
The Perry High School Class
of 1953 celebrated the anniver
sary of their 50th graduation
with a gathering at the Houston
Lake Country Club on June
28th. Class members were
greeted with a six foot “Welcome
PHS Class of ‘53” banner as they
entered the Club. The dining
room was decorated with maroon
and gold crepe paper and maroon
and gold table decorations made
of maroon Gerber daisies,
maroon carnations and gold
miniature mums. Members

Mark A. Borden of Periy and
Shirley A. Crumpton of Labella,
Fla., announce the engagement
of their daughter, Jenny L.
Borden, to Andy C. “Dock”
Crumley, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Dickie C. Crumley of
Kathleen. The wedding will be
held at the First Baptist Church
of Kathleen on Saturday, July
26, 2003.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.
Joseph Borden of Perry, Mr. and
Mrs. Daniel H.Wisher of
Clewiston, Fla., and the late
Edgar Brown of Marshallville.

Boyd, McCall exchange
wedding vows
BONAIRE - Carrie Ann Boyd
and Kendall Glenn McCall were
married on April 12, 2003, at
Bonaire United Methodist
Chapel. The bride is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald A.
Boyd of Bonaire. The groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
N. McCall of Kathleen.
Dr. Charles Adams officiated..
The bride wore a sleeveless A
line ivory satin gown with a lace
bodice and empire waist. Her
train was chapel length. Her
sister, Emily Boyd, was maid of
honor, and the groom’s sister,
enjoyed the memorabilia table
and display which included 1953
Perry High School Annuals,
newspaper clippings of 1953’s
basketball champion team, scrap
books with memories arranged by
Nelda Edwards Davidson, pic
tures from Billy Stewart’s attic,
and photo albums from previous
reunion parties. Ten years have
passed since the last reunion so
class members enjoyed visiting
and “catching up”.
Billy Powell, basketball star of
1953, a retired senior manager
She is a 2002 graduate of Perry
High School, and is currently
attending Middle Georgia
Technical College, where she is
pursuing a degree in business
and medical office manage
ment. She works at Interstate
Battery System of Georgia Inc.,
in Perry.
The groom-elect is the grand
son of Richard C. Crumley and
the late Elizabeth Crumley of
Kathleen, Lucille Harper and
the late Hoke Harper of
Haynesville. He is a 1999 grad
uate of Perry High School, and
is a subcontractor with Keadle
and Co., Warner Robins.
Kristine McCall was brides
maid.
The groom chose his father,
Glenn McCall, as best man.
David Zoumbaris was grooms
man, and Ray Nelson, Carl
Rutherford and Philip Smith
served as ushers.
A reception at the Houston
Lake Country Club followed the
ceremony..
After a honeymoon in
Washington, D.C., the couple
are making their home in
Kathleen.
CELEBRATIONS
from Robins AFB, who now
writes a spiritual column in a
local newspaper, opened the
meeting with an invocation. He
remembered class members pres
ent, 11 deceased members
(Margaret Gibson Lynn, Benny
Giles, Donald Griffin, Thomas
Grimes, Tootsie Fouts Hardy,
Clifton Jackson, Franklin
Langston, Alice Tucker
Roughton, Peggy Ann Watson,
George B. Wells, Jr. and Robert
White), the remaining teachers;
Florence Harrison, who was pres
ent for the event; Earl Marshall
and Dorothy Jones as well as one
class member who could not be
located (Rosie Lee Terrell
Stewart). Class members who
are ill and unable to attend were
also kept in mind.
Felton Norwood, now a retired
pediatrician residing in Atlanta,
and former Vice-President of the
class, emceed the program after a
meal of prime rib with all the
trimmings, followed by a Georgia
peach flan. Each place was

Elvira Flagg announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Alice Flagg, to Daniel Reslie,
son of Michael and Karen
Reslie. The wedding is planned
for June 5, 2004.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Peter J. Aiello ofWinthrop,
Mass., and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Flagg of Fairfield,
Maine. A graduate of Warner
Robins High School, she
received a bachelor’s degree and

Harper Rogers. Felton motivated
each member to relate a story of
school years and exciting times at
Perry High School. Good times
and splendid experiences of
attending Perry High School
were shared and everyone
enjoyed the journey down memo
ry lane. Class members are
determined to have another
reunion soon; and organizers,
June Harrison Harris, Nina
Harper Rogers, and Nelda
Edwards Davidson, agreed, with
the help of all present, to under
take the planning again.
Members attending were:
Martin Beeland and wife, Jackie
of Perry; Don Cole and wife,
Shirley of Aurora, Col.; Neil
Edwards and wife, Ann of Perry;
Nelda Edwards Davidson and
husband, J.T. of Warner Robins;
David Gray of Atlanta; Clifford
Grimes and wife, Sylvia of Perry;
a master’s degree in teaching
from Agnes Scott College and is
presently employed as a man
agement trainee at GEICO in
Macon.
The groom-elect is the grand
son of Mr. and Mrs. George
Pinson of Covington, Audrey
Reslie and the late William
Reslie of Vacaville, Calif. He is a
graduate of Warner Robins
High School, and earned a
degree from Georgia State
University in computer science.
He works at Intergraph in
Warner Robins.
