WARNER ROBINS - Two
local groups recently bene
fited from the financial gen
erosity of the Medical
Executive Committee of
Houston Medical Center.
On Monday evening, the
committee presented two
$5,000 checks, one to the
21st Century Partnership,
the other to Hospice of
Houston County.
Dr. Daniel Deighton,
chairman of the committee,
explained the funds arose
from an accumulation of
staff donations, which are
used generally for flowers
and small purchases. But
when the fund balance
grows to a certain point, the
committee looks for a wor
thy local group to which it
can make a donation.
This year the committee
selected two.
This is not the first year
Hospice of Houston County
has been selected, Deighton
said.
“We are so appreciative,”
said Ginny Street of
Hospice. “The hospital has
always been very supportive
of us, and we are very fortu
nate to have this kind of
support, specifically from
the doctors.”
Houston Healthcare
Complex may be even more
supportive in the future.
The organization is current

This could be accommodat

obstetrics ward of Perry
Hospital.
“We will be able to provide
even better service for
patients for that access,”
Street said.
This year, the 21st
Century Partnership was
selected for the base’s “obvi
ous importance” to the com
munity, Deighton said.
The donation brings the
partnership one step closer
to its $1.2 million goal, said
Neil Suggs, co-chair of the
Warner Robins Industry
Now Group, which is coordi
nating fundraising efforts
for the partnership.
“This is just another
example of community
involvement from all
aspects of our community,”
Suggs said. “The 21st
Century Partnership is just
extremely glad to have this
kind of support.”
The partnership is deeply
appreciative of this donation
from the medical staff,
Suggs said. This money is in
addition to $25,000 already
received from the hospital
authority, he noted.
With such generosity, the
partnership has received
about $400,000 in donations
so far, with approximately
$200,000 more pledged, said
Mark Byrd, WRING co
chair.
