Deceit was named executive direc
tor of the Georgia Sports Hall of
Fame on Tuesday after holding the
position on an interim basis for the
past year.
Since joining the hall in 1999,
Decell has been director of opera
tions, director of marketing and
public programs and twice served
as interim executive director. This
time, she replaces John Shafer.
LONDON (AP) British sprint
er Dwain Chambers was suspend
ed for two years and banned for
life from the Olympics, the first ath
lete punished for testing positive
for the designer steroid THG.
THG, which was undetectable
until last year, is at the center of the
scandal surrounding a San
Francisco-area lab accused of
supplying dozens of professional
athletes with banned substances.
Chambers' coach, Barry Bonds'
personal trainer and two others
were indicted this month.
Chambers, the European 100-
meter champion, tested positive in
an out-of-competition drug test in
August. UK Athletics suspended
him, and under British Olympic
Association rules, he is barred
from ever competing in the
Olympics.
Chambers, who finished fourth
in the 100 at the 2000 Sydney
Games, had been considered a
potential gold medal contender at
the Athens Olympics in August. His
suspension will end Nov. 7, 2005.

Rose will be the subject of an
ESPN movie beginning production
this spring.
"Hustle," will premiere on Sept.
25, ESPN executive vice president
Mark Shapiro announced
Tuesday. The two-hour movie will
focus on events in Rose's life and
baseball career in the'mid- to late
1980 s, including the lifetime ban
he agreed to following an investi
gation of gambling _ a suspension
that has kept the career hits leader
off the Hall of Fame ballot.

Jose Canseco plans to try out for
the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2 1/2
years after his last appearance in
the major leagues.
The six-time All-Star will attend
the Los Angeles Dodgers' open

with 16 homers for the Chicago
White Sox.

CAMP NOTES: The
Braves full team was due to
report Monday with the first
day of full-squad workouts
scheduled for Wednesday.
Most of the players have been
in town since the weekend.
The only roster players not
to show up at camp so far
have been Julio Franco and
Rafael Furcal.
Both are expected to report
on time.
J.D. Drew, the replacement
for Gary Sheffield in right
field, took batting practice
during Monday's workout.
Drew is still rehabilitating
his knee, and Cox said he will
meet with Drew and the
team doctor's Monday to dis
cuss his workout schedule
during spring training.
"He's got to get ready for
Opening Day, that's all," Cox
said.
The Braves also announced
they signed catcher/outfield
er Eli Marrero to a one-year
extension.
Marrero would have been
eligible for free agency follow
ing the 2004 season.
