ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta
Hawks agreed Wednesday to Dion
Glover's request to release him
from his contract, general manag
er Billy Knight said.
Glover, a 6-foot-5 guard from
Georgia Tech and Cedar Grove
High in metro Atlanta, was the
Hawks' No. 1 draft pick in 1999,
the 20th selection overall. In five
seasons, he averaged B.S points,
3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists in
273 games, with 101 starts.
In 55 games this year, Glover
had career-bests of 10.1 points,
4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists,
while shooting only 39.1 percent
from the field. He scored a season
high 23 points at Phoenix on Nov.
12 and ended his Atlanta career
with six points in three minutes of
action during the Hawks' 86-75 vic
tory over the Philadelphia 76ers
Tuesday night.

Ravens running back Jamal Lewis,
who had the second-highest rush
ing total in NFL history last season,
was indicted on federal drug
charges.
The Atlanta native is accused of
trying to help a childhood friend
buy cocaine in the summer of 2000
_ just before he signed a six-year,
$35.3 million contract with the
Ravens. No drugs were ever pur
chased, according to the indict
ment.
The running back's attorney, Ed
Gariand, said his ciient was inno
cent and would turn himself in on
Thursday.
Lewis is charged with conspiring
to possess with the intent to dis
tribute 5 kilograms of cocaine and
using a cell phone in the commis
sion of the first count, according to
U.S. Attorney William S. Duffey.

University of Colorado appointed a
former college president to help
the school determine whether its
embattled athletic department has
a culture that encourages mistreat

The school's football program is

with sex and alcohol.

The contract covers the 2006
Winter Games in Turin, Italy; the
2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing;
the 2010 Winter Games in
Vancouver; and the 2012 Summer
Olympics, whose host city will be
selected next year.

Milwaukee point guard TJ. Ford Is
expected to miss two to three
weeks because of a bruised spinal
cord. Ford was carried off the oourt
on a stretcher after faWng hard dur
ing the fourth quarter Tuesday
night against Minnesota.
The rookie spent the night at St.
Luke'e Medical Center. Further
evaluation, Including an MRI,
found Ford sustained a mild
bruise, the Bucks said. Ford Is
expected to make a fuN recovery.

“Last year we had people
who beat the ball all over the
place,” Sellers said. “We’re a
fast team and anytime we can
make the other team have to
make a play, a lot of things can
happen.”
Sellers knows where
Blalock, Shelton, Liipfert,
O’Neal and Barfield will be
playing, but there are several
other positions yet to be filled.
Right now, sophomore Bryn
Collins will see a lot of action
at catcher when Barfield
pitches.
