Clark, 68, passed away Monday, Fety. 23,
2004, at a local hospital. Services will be
held at Ip.m. Friday, Feb. 27 (TODAY), at
Turner’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church
in Butler. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. in
Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church
Cemetery in Dooly County. Visitation was
from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at
McCullough Funeral Home.
Rev. Clark was bom in 1935 in Dooly
County, to the late John Lewis and Estelle
Clark. He was retired after 39 years of civil
service at Robins Air Force Base having
worked in various technical capacities. Rev.
Clark pastored several churches since the
age of 16 and served the past 24 years as
Pastor of Turner’s Chapel Free Will Baptist
Church in Butler.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Clark of
Warner Robins; three daughters, Debbie
Mueller (Kenny) of Houston, Texas, Lorie
Pettus (Chuck) of Byron, and Heather Beck
(SSgt. Cody) of Burkbumett, Texas; two
sons, Rusty Clark (Carol) of Houston,
Texas, and SSgt. Lyn Clark (Peggy) of
Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany;
brother, Robert F. Clark of Cordele; sisters,
Vera Moore of Reynolds, and Brenda Gamer
of Wilkesboro, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held at 3
p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, in Perry
Memorial Gardens. The family suggests
contributions to the First Baptist Church of
Perry.
A native of Meridian, Miss., and the
daughter of E.M. Jackson and Edna M.
Jackson, she had lived in Perry since 1987.
Purvis was a homemaker and a member of
First Baptist Church of Perry.
Survivors include three sons, James
Purvis 111 of Raleigh, N.C., Michael Purvis
of Perry, and Edward Purvis of Canton; four
grandchildren; and three great-grandchil
dren. She was preceded in death by her hus
band, James Purvis Jr.

ROLAND RAPHAEL
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Roland Raphael, 62,
passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at
the Houston Medical Center in Warner
Robins. A memorial service will be held at a
later date.
Raphael was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He
was the owner of Cablextra, a cable con
tracting company. His mother, Eleanor
Marie Beshaw, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Kelly
Smith of Cape Coral, Fla.; granddaughter,
Krystal Cate Smith of Cape Coral, Fla.; four
sisters; and one brother.

School, 201 N. Pleasant Hill
Road, will host a family-style
spaghetti supper at 6:30 p.m.
The meal is $5 for adults and $3
for children 12 and under. The
event honors Black History
Month and will have local
African-American leaders as
speakers, including Chief
Deputy Sheriff Willie Talton,
and Tiena Fletcher, who serves
on the board of the Georgia
Department of Human
Resources. Proceeds will go to
enhance the African-American
collection in the school’s media
center.

on the Edge” at 7 p.m. as part
of the John W. Davison Lecture
Series in the C. W. Pettigrew
