WINTER HAVEN. Fla. (AP)
Milton Bradley might soon be
someone else's center fielder
and problem. The Cleveland
Indians have apparently had
enough of his antics.
The club is trying to trade
Bradley, who was barred from

day after he was pulled from an
exhibition game by manager Enc
Wedge for not running out a pop
fly.
Indians general manager Mark
Shapiro has discussed a trade
involving Bradley with as many as

legitimate and serious."

During that six lustrum,
study your John Wayne, I
have become jaded to the
point I seldom watch sports
unless I’m paid to do so.
And when I watched. I eval
uated, judged and bemoaned
as if it were the end of the
world.
I didn’t see it as entertain
ment.
My Muffin loves to watch
tennis, golf and women's bas
ketball. Nine times out of 10,
she can’t tell you which team
is which
I’m not even sure she could
identify Tiger Woods, hut she
does something that is much
more important She enjoys
the game.
My Muffin gets excited
when she sees a good play,
putt or volley. She grumbles
at poor free throw shooting.
WINNING -
From page 1B
“After we scored our first
goal, we pretty much went
fiat for the rest of the first
half,” Lane said after the
game. “It was 2-1 at half
time. We came out strong in
the second half, and scored
in the first minute.”
“We came out with a little
different combination after
Imlftime. When they came
out, they played strong. We
had a little talk at halftime.
And they kids knew at half
time that we’d played bad.
They knew we had not
taken advantage - we
missed two breakaways in
the first half. They knew we
weren’t playing well. I
talked to them for a minute,
then they took it upon
themselves to pick up the
pace.
Lukas Wuttke led the
charge with 2 goals for
Northside, the first and the
last ones.

shanks, slices and double

She gets involved and
watches in childlike wonder,
asking questions to learn
more and when it’s over, she
forgets it all and gets on with
her life because sports isn’t
her life, it’s just a pleasant
interlude.
My Muffin thought the
ending of the
Baylor Tennessee game was
unfair, and she’s put two kids
through UT. But when it was
over. Muffin said, “That was
fun, what’s next?”
1 thought about saying,
“How about supper?” but I’d
learned from the “have every
thing” incident.
The next day, she couldn't
remember who had won and
was excited again to find out
that Tennessee had.
Some men might find that
Andreas Perez and
Deontai Price both scored
goals in the first five min
utes of the second half.
“We made a few changes
on offense, and from that,
they just came out and
clicked,” Sans said. “From
there on out, we pretty
much dominated in the sec
ond half."

exasperating but to me, it is
refreshing. Sports shouldn’t
be important. They should be
entertaining. We should get
excited, breathless, antsy and
heartbroken but when it’s
over, what’s for supper? It’s
time to move on.
I had forgotten to watch
with that same youthful exu
berance as My Muffin’s.
Because of her, I’ve remem

So, next time, when you’re
watching some sports figure
being interviewed and some
fool in the background is on
his cell phone and waving at

That phone may be tipped

would be refreshing because
that means that the person

about burden of fanaticism.
