Ace president pays visit
Hodnick impressed
with new store
By Luci Joullian
HHJ Staff Writer
PERRY David Hodnick, president
and CEO of Oak Brook. 11l -based Ace
Hardware, paid a special visit to the
new Perry location of the store
Tuesday morning.
“I’m impressed,” said Hodnick of the
new Ace store, located in Perry
Marketplace at the former site of
Kmart on Sam Nunn Boulevard. “This
appears to be a good store.”
The new Ace location, which cele
brated its grand opening earlier this
week and is owned by William Jackson
and Mike Brennan, is about four times
the size of the Perry Ace’s old Ball
Street location.
Hodnick noted that the company
does not have a prototype store, per se,
but that the corporate office offers a
list of recommended merchandise and
each location carries a product array
tailored to the needs of customers in
their marketplace.
“We think our local owners know
what will meet their consumers'
needs,” Hodnick said.
Ace Hardware, which celebrates its
80 anniversary this year, has about 150
nationwide stores. Besides the new
Perry store, the company recently
opened a Macon area store as well. One
purpose of Hodnick’s visit Tuesday
was to meet with retailers and store
owners from around the Middle
Georgia area. Hodnick said he and
local Ace store owners would be dis
cussing corporate strategy, employee
training, promotional events and new
products, such as Ace's new Sensations
flat paint with 3M Scotchguard protec
tant.
