Councilman Dean
Cowart raised the issue,
out of concerns of another
real ugly monolith, “like
the big brown metal
building behind Civic
Drive.”
Elliott said the city
would have to show it is
working to implement or
is drafting a zoning over
lay, or other changes to
the area. Cowart asked
the new construction in
the area be compatible
with what’s already
there.
The Downtown
Development Authority
had also raised the issue,
for the same reasons.
