Loose' seatbelt
leads to pot bust
By RAY LIGHTNER
HHJ Staff Writer
WARNER ROBINS -
Darius Christopher
McKenzie, 33,1737 Graham
Road, Macon, was stopped
Tuesday on N. Davis Drive,
according to an incident
report, as he appeared not to
be wearing his seatbelt. The
driver reportedly said he
was wearing it “but it was
real loose.”
McKenzie said he did not
have his driver’s license on
him at the time as he “was
trying to get it back, from
the state.” He license was
confirmed suspended and he
was arrested for driving on a
suspended license.
McKenzie reportedly told
the officer he had some mar
ijuana in the car in a console
under the dashboard. Found
there was a sandwich bag
containing nine small black
bags containing marijuana,
reportedly “packaged in a
manner to be sold as nickel
bags, as commonly referred
to on the street.” Also found
was a bag containing empty
black bags like the ones the
marijuana was found in.
McKenzie was charged with
possession of marijuana
with intent to distribute,
driving while license sus
pended and the seatbelt vio
lation.
Turn it down
If you don’t have a license
or insurance, driving and
playing the radio real loud
isn’t recommended.
Fidel Martinez Gonzalez,
20, 725 Ga. 96, Sandia East
Apt. 206, Bonaire, found
that out on Tuesday. He was
arrested for no insurance,
no license and loud music
after a deputy heard him
coming from Ga. 96, as he
drove up the driveway into
apartment complex. The car
was towed, and Gonzalez
was taken to jail.

incident report, Pearson was
asked to leave Cricket’s Bar
by the bouncer after picking
fights with patrons. He left
and returned to the adjoin
ing parking lot as the bounc
er was talking to deputies.
The deputies then drove
over and made contact with
Pearson in the parking lot.
Deputy reportedly noticed a
strong odor of alcoholic bev
erage coming from
Pearson’s breath. He was
arrested after field sobriety
tests were conducted, and
he was taken to Centerville
Police station for Intoxilyzer
5000 test. After numerous
attempts and two insuffi
cient sample printouts, the
suspect was charged with
DUI-refusal for not supply
ing an adequate sample.
According to the incident
report, it appeared Pearson
was sticking his tongue in
the tube, blocking the air.

A woman reported her car
stolen on Monday after
lending it to her father, who
lent it to his brother. The
brother’s girlfriend and
another man may have
taken the keys sometime
between Saturday and

said she did not report the
vehicle stolen earlier
because she said her uncle
thought his girlfriend would
bring the car back. The two
suspects live with the uncle.
The victim may be seeking
warrants.
