Bert Rumble Middle School students had a “Fair”-ly good showing at this year’s
Georgia National Fair in Perry. Several students walked away winners: Chelsa Atkins,
Alexa Evans, Shanele Justice and Nathan Westray participated with selected works
while Tarren Gilmore, LaShara Turner, Antonio Black, Nicki Wagner, Audra-Anna
Milton, Caroline Green won monetary prizes ranging from $25 to $5.

The students at Bert Rumble Middle School were eligible to win a free lunch from
Chick-fil-A for reaching certain point goals periodically. Every so often the Chick-fil-
A cow mascot stops by to encourage reading. Praychaya Tongul and Bobby
Simmons boast with the cow about their AR points. Past winners are Lindsey Foster,
Tyler Davis, Latrell Williams, Taylor Harvard, Allen Hydro, Zach Odom, Laura
Cameron, Koori Grove, Brooke Devins, Ashley Mims, Nicky Wagner and Jenna
Orioles.

Houston County High student and State Family Career and Community Leaders of
America (FCCLA) President Dabe Patterson recently attended an FCCLA-FFA
Conference Center improvement and planning meeting held in Forsyth. Pictured
with Patterson are Shannon Miles, Camp Education Program Director, and Todd
Teasley, Camp Director. Miles is a former FCCLA State Officer and graduate of
Houston County High. Also attending the meeting were Neida Clay and Jane Cooper,
Patterson’s advisers.
