Busted with blunts

Drive, Perry, each denied
knowledge of the marijuana
found in the ashtray of the
car they were riding in at
1:37 a.m. Saturday, at
Moody and Pleasant Hill
roads.
A deputy reportedly initi
ated a traffic stop after
observing the vehicle driven
by Miller leave the roadway,
jerk back onto the roadway,
and make an illegal lane
change. Miller reportedly
said he did not have a
license and was arrested.
The deputy reported he
could smell the odor of
burnt marijuana coming
from the car and noticed a
“blunt” in the ashtray. He
opened it up found suspect
ed marijuana inside.

Mustangs pull up side-by
side and accelerate at a high
rate of speed on Watson
Boulevard at Houston Road
about 2:04 a.m. Sunday.
The driver of the white
Mustang slammed on his
brakes after observing the
deputy turn around, and
pulled behind the yellow
Mustang. Both turned onto
Corder Road and refused to
stop. The white car was
stopped at Skyway Drive
and the yellow one was
stopped by a second deputy
just south of the first at
Peacock Drive.
Both drivers refused to
submit to a Breathalyzer
test after being read state
implied consent and repeat
edly claimed to speak only a
little English when asked
about the test. The deputy
noted, however, that the
driver of the yellow car
answered any other ques
tions he asked, according to

session of marijuana-less
than one ounce. Miller was
also cited for failure to
maintain lane and driving
while unlicensed.
In a separate incident,
Adam Wade McDaniel, 19,
212 Krisken Court, Warner
Robins, was charged with
DUI-drugs (less safe), pos
session of marijuana-less
than one ounce and reckless
driving after a Saturday
wreck with injuries.
His passenger, Shannon
Castro, 20, was ejected from
the vehicle. Deputies report
edly found a box of Swisher
Sweets “blunts,” in the car
along with several plastic
bags and a small rolled up
piece of burnt paper con
taining suspected marijua
na. Similar items found out
side the car including sever
al rolled-up piece of burnt
the report.
Mauricio Alvarado Zarate,
21, 302 Holiday Riveria,
Warner Robins, was driving
the yellow 1998 Mustang.
Antonio Lopez, 21, same
address, was driving the
white 1995 Mustang.
The deputy reportedly
noticed a strong odor of an
alcoholic beverage coming
from each of the vehicles.
The deputy also observed
several open Bud Light beer
bottles on the floor behind
the driver’s seat of the white
car. The driver reportedly
could not produce a license
and was not wearing his
seatbelt. His speech was
reportedly slurred and he
mumbled, and he tested pos
itive for alcohol. The driver
was placed in custody and
the white car was searched.
No proof of insurance or bill
of sale was found, so the car
was towed and a hold placed
on it.
Lopez received 14 charges
including racing, DUI-alco
hol (refusal), reckless driv
ing, driving while unli
censed, failure to maintain
cer should take when
encountering such prob
lems. The course also teach
es officers how to become
adept in recognizing the pos
sible presence of a medical
condition or other situations
that may produce similar
signs of driving impairment.
As a prerequisite, officers
must have met the
International Association of
Chiefs of Police, the
National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration, and
National Standardized Field

reportedly had a very strong
odor of marijuana inside it.
The vehicle was traveling
southbound on Fairground
Boulevard at about 7:45
a.m. and left the road, came
back on and the driver lost
control. The vehicle began
to rotate and struck the
ditch. It overturned and
came back to rest on its
wheels facing north.
Both the driver and pas
senger were taken to area
hospital. At Houston
Medical Center, the driver,
McDaniel, reportedly admit
ted to smoking marijuana
around 2 a.m. and said he
hadn’t slept much since
then.
Castro was taken to the
Medical Center of Central
Georgia for serious injuries
sustained in the wreck. She
may also be facing charges,
according to reports.

At the Houston County
Sheriffs Office, he reported

Zarate, the driver of the
yellow Mustang, reportedly
said he had two beers and
asked again why he had
been stopped. When told it
was for racing, he refused to
take the state test and said
he wasn’t drunk - he’d only
had four or five beers.
Zarate was charged with
driving without insurance,
no driver’s license, DUl
refusal, following too closely,
drag racing, laying drag,
reckless driving. He also had
an open warrant for proba
tion violation from Nov. 30
for driving without a license.

the Governor’s Office of
Highway Safety. The
Georgia Public Safety
Training Center provides
training programs for local
and state certified public
safety officers at no cost to
the local community for
tuition, meals or lodging.
