assessment - his team had
already seen how talented
they were in a loss some
time prior to that - on what
order he thought Region

Nevertheless, he said it.
And then on Friday, he
proved himself wrong, as his
Demonettes beat the Lady
Eagles at home, 53-47.
“I was really pumped up
for this game,” Mobley said.
The squad also welcomed
back the return of Drahcir
Ross, although she is being
nursed back to full strength
and only saw limited play.
“The girls were really
pumped up for it.”

PERRY - The Panthers as of Friday,
were battling in a division that
includes three teams in the Top 10 in
AAA in the coaches poll.
Peach County was ranked No. 5 and
is the only team to have beaten Perry
this season.
Mary Persons was ranked 10th with
a 15-7 record (they lost to the Trojans
Friday) and Perry heading into this
weekend was ranked No. 7 at 20-1 and
7-1 in the region.

He attributed some of
that adrenaline as the cause
for the Demonettes missing
their first seven attempts.
That enabled Northside
(18-3, 6-2 in the region) to
go up 4-0 before Warner
Robins (13-8, 5-3) reeled off
10 straight points.
The Lady Eagles, howev
er, made the next two bas
kets and a free throw to pull
to within one, 10-9 as the
quarter ended.
Northside girl’s head
coach Casaundra Wilson
said after the game she was
disappointed in the team’s
shooting overall but also
said the all her team “hit
some big outside shots.”
Four of those belonged to
Sonyetta Davis. All were 3-
pointers.
“She was on Fire,” Mobley,
whose squad won their
fourth straight, said. “She
was their ‘go-to’ person
tonight,”
She had a lone basket in
the third quarter but two
of her treys came in the
second and enabled the

The sophomore who has
been thrown into the start

four 3-pointers - three of
them coming in the second

Region 3S-AAAA overtime
win past Northside Friday.

with one from Pierre Miller,
who also had four total - two
of them in the first quarter
What does that mean to Perry boys
head basketball coach Brett Hardy?
“We have to win out to win the
region,” he said. “And then it’s up to
a coin toss.”
To say Perry’s rematch against
Peach County will be big is an under
statement.
They meet today. Peach County won
77-70 in the opener, but the Trojans
have to travel to Perry for the final
match.
“We’re not satisfied. We can’t be,”
Hardy said. “One loss and Tuesday’s

Hardy admits he has reason to feel
good about this season so far - above
and beyond the fact the team has only
tasted defeat once.
Tarvis Billings is averaging 18 points
a game and Montay West is adding
another 15. West has also had games
of 29 and 27 points.
The Panthers also count on their
bench to produce. Hardy points to
the efforts of Taurean Smith and his
brother Rashad.
