University will hold its annual
Teacher Recruitment Day pro
gram from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in
the Health and Physical
Education Complex. All univer
sity juniors, seniors and gradu
ate students majoring in
teacher education are invited to

present. The one-day program

group of black pilots who over
come racism and political oppo
sition to become an effective
and noteworthy U.S. fighter

DOVIE M. GRIFFIN
BONAIRE - Dovie M. Griffin, 74, passed away on
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at her daughter’s home in
Bonaire. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11,2005
(TODAY), in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with
interment following in Bonaire Community Cemetery.
Griffin was born in Wilcox. She retired from Robins Air
Force Base as an electronic equipment repairer. Her par
ents, Lee and Loleta McGlamory, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy W. Griffin of
Bonaire; son, Gene Griffin (Joyce) of Bonaire; daughters,
Deborah Middleton (Charlie) of Cochran; Bonnie Barnett
(Joe) of Bonaire; brothers, Robert McGlamory of Warner
Robins; Wilburn McGlamory of Macon; seven grandchil
dren and 13 great-grandchildren.

“Bill” Strickland, 81, of
Warner Robins, died
Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005.
Funeral services will be held
at 11 a.m. Friday (TODAY) in the Chapel
of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Magnolia Park
Cemetery. The Rev. Sydney Odom and Dr.
H. Owen Bozeman will officiate.
Strickland, a native of Hueytown, Ala., was the son of the
late John and Rosa Hammonds Strickland. He was a mem
ber of Central Baptist Church where he was a former dea
con and an usher. He served in the U.S. Navy during World
War 11. He also retired from the railroad and Robins Federal
Credit Union. He has worked for the past ten years as the
night attendant at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred L. Strickland of
Warner Robins; children: Susan Beuerlein, Lorri (Dennis)
Patterson, Robin Miller, Lisa (Donnie) Sims, all of Warner
Robins, Sonia (Tom) Banger of Gulf Port, Miss.; siblings:
Lucille Wright of Hueytown, Ala., and Gene Strickland of
Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren: Senior Airman Robert F.
Cannon Jr., Michael J. Miller Jr., Ashton Miller and
Jonathan Patterspn.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central
Baptist Church Building Fund, 1120 Lake Joy Road,
Warner Robins, GA 31088.
