THE HOUSTON HOME JOURNAL
moved to the final stages
recently.
“My father was a well
liked man by all who knew
or encountered him,” said
his son George. “He had a
friendly demeanor and was
sought out by many pro
golfers to help improve their
game. He loved all aspects of
the game and worked hard
to further the sport by hold
ing youth clinics every sum
mer, women’s clinics every
few months and just enjoyed
interacting with anyone
who had a desire to play the
game he loved. My father
would work long hours, get
ting to the course before
dawn and not leaving until
well after sundown. When
he moved to Las Vegas, he
would teach lessons until
the heat was unbearable in
the summertime but loved
imparting his knowledge of
the game to all of his stu
dents. He was always smil
ing and never had a bad
word for anyone. I don’t
know of anyone who did not
like Dad. He was the wisest
man I have ever known He
had a great spirit that will
live on in our hearts.”
He is survived by his wife
of 20+ years, Ruth; his son,
George Sandler of Conyers;
his daughter, Gina Sandler
of Los Angeles, Calif.; his
stepson, Chris Wickham and
his wife Heidi of Las Vegas,
Nev.; his brothers Phillip
