opener Mar. 9.
“Central is typically a soc
cer school,” Lane said. “I
don’t know what to expect
because their coach resigned
at the beginning of the
year.”
Their next region oppo
nent is Hardaway. The
Eagles travel to Columbus
for that match.
Lane said he expected
Hardaway to also be a strong
opponent. The last time the
Eagles faced the Golden
Hawks was two seasons ago
and Northside escaped with
a 3-2 win in a shootout.
Northside travels to
Westside March 24.
“We played Westside the
last couple of years,” Lane
said. “One year they play us
good and the next year not
so good.”

from Westside is one con
tender.
“O’Neal can play so many
positions, but I’m thinking
that maybe he’ll contribute
more from the outfield,”
Masters said.
Masters said he also likes
sophomore Robby Taylor at
third. Also battling for the
third base spot is Sullivan
de’Yamport.
Center field is set. It’s
ed to face a much improved
team because the entire
Seminoles team returns.
The Eagles close out their
season with Warner Robins
who Lane said is always
strong.
“I was hoping to pick up
where we left off last year,”
Lane said. “We lost seven
starters.”
Northside has never had
enough players come out for
a JV team, so Lane hasn’t
had a feeder system from
which to build.
His offensive philosophy
may help the Eagles get to
state, however.
“My theory of control sets
up opportunities for us,”
Lane said. “To take advan
tage of the opportunities, we
push up the field to take the
shot. If the opportunity clos
es, we return to the midfield
and reset.”
said, “and we have speed in
the middle.”
Although Northside has
been playing some of the
teams in 3S-AAAA, others
will be new.
Central, which made it to
the second round of state
is a major concern, while
Westside is an unknown.
Either way, he added the
Lady Eagles are getting ready
by playing strong competi
tion.
“I scheduled some teams
that will be competitive,”
he said. “We play some good
competition so when region
starts, we’ll be ready for
them.”
Fowler, but when he pitches
it could be O’Neal.
Again it’s O’Neal or Reber
in right when Stewart pitch
es and the same when Ashley
goes to the mound.
He also has Hunter
Loggins, Jeremiah Jones and
Stephen Calhoun to play the
outfield.
With his defense sort of set
in his mind, Masters plans
