MACON - Houston County
led for four minutes before
Stephenson closed out the
first quarter with a 10-2 run
that gave them a 14-6 lead
after one.
That eventually turned
into a 63-54 victory for the
Jaguars in the second round
of the AAAAA state cham

Centreplex Friday.
“They were just so big,”
said Houston County head
coach Greg Nix. “Their
guards were much better
than I expected.”
In fact, those “guards”
scored 35 of the team’s
points, but most of their bas
kets came in the paint.
Alada Aminu led with
22 points, as four Jaguars
scored in double figures.
Scott Bynum hit two 3-point
ers en route to 15 points
and Fred Christopher and
DeAndre Coleman scored 10
stripped and Jones County
recovered.
Lady Greyhound Anjelica
Manual got the ball and was
immediately fouled. She hit
both sides of the one and
one and made the score its
finale, 56-52.
The Lady Eagles had two
shots at the basket in the
final nine seconds - des
peration shots that rattled
the rim but didn’t enter.
