How should Prevacid be taken? Before or after meals?
Dear David, When
should Prevacid be
taken for best results,
before or after a meal? If
taken after a meal, how
long after a meal?
Dear reader, according to
the manufacturer of
Prevacid, it should be taken
before eating. If you take
your medication around a
mealtime, I would recom
mend that you take it either
30 to 45 minutes before eat
ing or 1 to 1 and 1/2 hour
after eating. For best
results, however, you may
want to try taking your
Prevacid in the evening (an
hour or so after supper) or
at bedtime.
The reason for this has to
do with the physiology of
eating and digestion. As you
know, our stomachs produce
acid. This acid is neutralized
by the food we eat. That’s

Pachulski’s pants and inside
Deibler’s Tinkerbell pocket

Pachulski reported took
the following items: DVDs of

total value of $64.81.
Deibler reportedly took a

DVDs “Saved” and “My
Best Friend” - for a total
value of $26.82.
Fall first, sue later
A woman threatened to
sue on Thursday after
falling behind a tow truck
on Dec. 27, 2004. The 70-
year-old Florida woman
reportedly told police she
was walking through a gas
station parking lot when
people in the store yelled,
“Stop!”
She said she became star
tled and fell to the ground,
injuring her knee and leg,
and cutting her arm. While
on the ground she noticed
she’d been walking behind a
tow truck that had been
backing out of its parking
space and almost ran her
over.
She reported the driver
asked her not to call police
and offered to pay for her
medical bills. He gave her
his name, address and a
phone number. She agreed
to his request and declined
EMS response.
On Thursday, she called
the towing company as the

the acid and for the patient
to experience symptoms.
The time the stomach is
empty the longest is during
sleep. This occasionally
causes people with hyper
acidity disorders to be awak
ened from their sleep by
their symptoms.
By taking Prevacid (or any
of the medications that
block production of stomach
acid) in the evening or at
bedtime, you are assured
maximum effectiveness of
the drug during the sleeping
hours.
Now I know that most of
these drugs are designed to
work for 24 hours and are
only dosed once a day. And
that if the medication is
taken at the same time each
day, it should work the same
no matter when it is taken.
